Oscar Jerome’s latest single, Gravitate is a testament to why he was swooped up after his SXSW performance by his new label Caroline International.
With repetitive and catchy drum beats and a rhythm guitar taking centre stage on this track, Jerome can be likened to the artists such as Tom Misch that have been bringing a jazz revival to the forefront of new music in recent years.
Following on from previous tracks Do You Really and Subdued, Jerome’s latest record combines the jazz and the psychedelic vibes he had already established in a much more openly accessible package. Oscar Jerome’s new take says exciting things about this reemerging genre, one that had previously been disregarded. The talent exhibited by this South London artist is reflective of a subculture emerging from this area in terms of this genre of music, Jerome is another artist who is bringing an extremely welcome breath of fresh air to the British music scene.
