Preview: Truck Festival

May 23, 2018

Located in the Oxfordshire countryside, Truck Festival makes it’s 2018 return on 20th-22nd July with one of the strongest UK line ups of the year.

Described as “the Godfather of the small festival scene”, Truck offers three days of both upcoming and established artists for just £110 per ticket; with the option to add a Thursday entry ticket for an additional £25. That means you can bag yourself a four day weekend filled with artists such as George Ezra, Jake Bugg, Everything Everything, Peace, The Amazons and Blaenavon for the price of an average weekend hotel stay, it’s a no brainer really, isn’t it?

With 50+ bands already announced, we’ve picked our top 5 must sees for the weekend. Check them out below.

Blaenavon

Sunday - Truck Stage

Rapidly rising Hampshire trio Blaenavon make a return for festival season this year. With countless sold out headline shows under their belts, the hype surrounding Ben Gregory, Frank Wright and Harris McMillan is more than deserved. The spirit and energy of a Blaenavon live show is nothing short of delightful, expect ferocious riffs, heavenly vocals and plenty of mosh pits; the must have combination for a festival weekend.

Anteros

Saturday - Truck Stage

If the Anteros buzz hasn’t hit you yet, where on earth have you been? Providing the very best of indie pop with more fun and sass than you could ever wish for, the London/Manchester based quartet have been making waves over the last 12 months. Led by Laura Hayden, Anteros combine sorrow filled lyrics with infectious energy and a funky-pop soundtrack; guaranteed to brighten both your mood and your weekend.

Marika Hackman

Saturday - Market Stage

Masking solemn lyrics with lo-fi fuzzy pop and a ton of personality, Marika Hackman is one of the UK’s under appreciated gems. Having grown from her early spine tingling, dark melancholic sound to the sound of latest album I’m Not Your Man, Marika’s live show possesses a new found confidence which shines through her sound. Her laidback, sultry pop sound is as addictive as her on stage personality; sure to leave you wanting more.

Gengahr

Saturday - The Nest

The dazzling sound of Gengahr’s intricate riffs and dreamy vocals make the perfect addition to any festival line up. Recently returning from a hiatus with new album Where Wilderness Grows London based four piece bring a new, more upbeat energy to their sound while still maintaining that dream pop feel we’ve come to love. Gengahr’s hazy, laidback sound is very much their own, and makes the perfect match for a Summer weekend.

Dream Wife

Saturday - Market Stage

Taking pride in making their live shows a safe space for their fans, punk driven trio Dream Wife deliver their feminist message with a gritty attitude. The art project turned unstoppable punk rock force fronted by Rakel Mjoll celebrate females with an influential, attitude driven confidence, and with every Dream Wife set filled with shredding riffs, in your face vocals and enough energy to take over even the biggest of rooms, the trio are more than suited to festival stages; sure to cause chaotic fun at Truck this year.
