Submariner - Stumbling

November 7, 2017

Brighton’s Submariner have had a successful year with slots at both Common People and Victorious Festival and support from BBC Introducing. Topping off 2017, the four piece have released their new single Stumbling; speaking about the track frontman Jimmy Herrity explains  “Stumbling describes those moments where you become fully conscious of your own self-destructive behaviour and that internal struggle between trying to be OK whilst preparing yourself for the consequences of that self-destructiveness. Musically it highlights us making another step towards the emotive palette we’re revealing in 2018.”

Stumbling is the first I’ve heard from Submariner and it’s instantly pleasing. It’s delicate ambient feel oozes with emotion, built up through it’s intricate melodies, soft vocals and laid-back guitar; each element complimenting the rest flawlessly. The emotion created by the four piece neatly balances their indie-pop base, creating a melancholic, ambient track with just the right amount of energy to avoid sounding dreary and depressing; instead creating a track which is pure pleasure to the ears.
