Live Review: Mary Miller - HUS Liverpool
I first came across Liverpool based Mary Miller back in October 2016 at Liverpool Music Week where she played a great support slot for Let's Eat Grandma. This time around Mary organised her own gig night at HUS featuring sets from herself, To Eva and RongoRongo amongst others. With a great line up at just £1 per ticket, the intimate room filled out with ease, creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
Just a few minutes into her set at HUS it's clear to see that Mary has really improved since October. She's much more confident, owning the stage as she flowed through the first track and really coming into her own while playing the beautiful 'I Found Heaven'. Her atmospheric, electronic sound is a slight reminder of The Japanese House and Lapsley, but softer and more upbeat.
Each of the seven songs played were met with cheers from the crowd, and deservedly so. Mary Miller has true potential, her short but sweet set left me wanting to hear more and her gig night seemed like a real success. Just a little taste of the exciting things to come from Liverpool's music scene.
